ABOUT IBI

CONSTITUTION & GUIDELINES

The Indian Board of Implantology (IBI) is an autonomous certifying body under the auspices of the Indian Association of Oral Implantology (IAOI). It aims to uphold the highest standards in the practice and education of oral implantology in India. The IBI shall work towards certifying professionals who demonstrate exceptional expertise, knowledge, and ethical practices in oral implantology.

GOVERNING STRUCTURE:

  1. Advisor: Senior implantologist of International repute with years of experience in the organization
  2. Chairperson: Senior experienced implantologist
  3. Director: Responsible for administration and communication.
  4. Convenor: A member of the Executive Committee of the IAOI to coordinate functions
  5. Examination committee: A panel of subject experts overseeing examinations.
  6. Credentialing committee: Reviews applications for eligibility.
  7. Ethics committee: Ensures compliance with professional ethics.

VISION

To establish a globally recognized certification body that promotes excellence in oral implantology and contributes to improving patient care standards through evidence-based practices.

  1. To certify dentists who demonstrate proficiency and advanced knowledge in oral implantology.
  2. To encourage continued professional development and lifelong learning.

MEMBERSHIP TIERS

1.Fellow of the Indian Board of Implantology (FIBI)

  •  Entry-level recognition for dentists with foundational knowledge and clinical skills in oral implantology.

2.Diplomate of Indian Board of Implantology (Diplomate – IBI)

  • Will be awarded only to those who have obtained fellowship of the IBI
  • Advanced certification for experienced practitioners demonstrating superior expertise in implantology.
 

REQUIREMENTS FOR FELLOWSHIP EXAMINATION

Eligibility Criteria:

  • BDS or MDS degree from a recognized institution or degree in dentistry from recognized universities for international applicants
  • Documented cases of at least 10 successfully completed implant procedures.

Examination Process:

  • Credit points by attending various IAOI activities
  • Case Submission on detailed documentation of 10 cases, including pre-op, intra-op, and post-op records.
  • Oral examination by a panel of experts to assess clinical knowledge and decision-making skills.

Fees:

  • Application fees : Rs 5000 ( To be paid at the time of submission )
  • Examination committee charges : Rs 5000 ( To be paid at the time of Review )
  • Credentialling & Award at IAOI National conference : Rs 15000 ( To be paid along with the conference registration )
 

REQUIREMENTS FOR DIPLOMATE EXAMINATION

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Fellowship in Implantology (FIBI) or equivalent certification.
  • Minimum of 3 years of active practice in oral implantology.
  • Documentation of at least 25 successfully completed implant cases with complex
    procedures (e.g., sinus lifts, full-arch restorations).

Examination Process:

  • Credit points by attending various IAOI activities
  • Written Examination with 100 multiple-choice questions and short answers focusing on advanced surgical techniques, complications, and innovations in implantology.
  • Case Presentation with Submission of 10 complex cases with complete documentation, including 3D imaging, treatment planning, and outcomes.
  • Viva Voce with panel assessment for problem-solving and theoretical knowledge.

Fees:

  • Application fees : Rs 10,000 ( To be paid at the time of submission )
  • Examination committee charges: Rs 15,000( To be paid at the time of Review )
  • Credentialling & Award at IAOI National conference : Rs 25000 ( To be paid along with the conference registration )

  1. Encourage standardization of implantology education in India.
  2. Create a pathway for professional recognition and career progression.
  3. Foster a community of experts for mentorship and peer support.
  4. Promote ethical and evidence-based practices in oral implantology.

ACCREDITATION AND CONTINUOUS PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT (CPD)

The IBI will provide CPD points for members who participate in recognized implantology workshops, seminars, and conferences.
