4.RESEARCH THEMES & PRIORITY AREAS

Applicants may propose research in any of the following priority areas:

  1. Advanced Implantology Protocols – Immediate loading, All-on-4/6, Zygomatic, and Pterygoid implants.
  2. Digital Implantology & Artificial Intelligence – 3D printing, guided surgery, and AI-based treatment planning.
  3. Implant Biomaterials and Surface Modifications – New-age grafts, membranes, and bioactive materials.
  4. Peri-implantitis Prevention and Management – Novel approaches and clinical protocols.
  5. Implant Rehabilitation in Medically Compromised Patients – Evaluation of outcomes and success rates.
  6. Biomechanics of Implant Prosthodontics – Occlusion, load distribution, and functional analysis.
  7. Tissue Regeneration and Graft Innovations – Soft and hard tissue augmentation techniques.
  8. Long-term Implant Maintenance Protocols – Impact of maintenance strategies on implant survival.
  9. Community-based Studies – Implantology outreach and impact in underserved populations.

5.GRANT CATEGORIES AND FUNDING STRUCTURE

Small Grants: ₹25,000 – ₹50,000

  • For pilot studies or short-term projects with clear clinical or laboratory outcomes.

Medium Grants: ₹50,000 – ₹1,00,000

  • For comprehensive clinical studies, systematic reviews, or studies with a larger sample size.

Large Grants: ₹1,00,000 – ₹2,00,000

  • For multi-center, high-impact clinical trials or advanced research with long-term follow-up.

6.GRANT TYPE: FUNDING OR IMPLANTS

Grants will be provided in two forms based on the nature of the research:

Monetary Grants:

  • Direct funding for project-related expenses, such as consumables, equipment, data analysis, publication costs, and other research-related expenses.

Implant-Based Grants:

  • Provision of implants, grafts, and biomaterials required for conducting the research.
  • Implants provided will be of standard quality and will be allocated based on the approved project proposal.

7.APPLICATION PROCESS

Step 1: Submission of Proposal

Applicants must submit a detailed research proposal that includes:

  • Title and Abstract: Concise summary of the research objective and methodology.
  • Background and Rationale: Brief review of existing literature and need for the study.
  • Research Objectives and Hypothesis: Clear objectives and testable hypothesis.
  • Methodology:
    • Study design, sample size, inclusion/exclusion criteria.
    • Data collection methods, analysis, and expected outcomes.
  • Timeline: Detailed project schedule with milestones.
  • Budget Breakdown: Justification for the requested funds or implants.

Step 2: Institutional Approval

  • For postgraduate students, proposals must be endorsed by the Head of the Department/Institution.
  • Ethical clearance from the Institutional Ethics Committee (IEC) is mandatory for human or animal studies.

Step 3: Online Application Submission

  • Applications should be submitted via the IAOI website at www.iaoi.in/research-grants.
  • All required documents (Proposal and the Institutional Approval) must be uploaded in PDF format.

8.REVIEW AND SELECTION PROCESS

Applicants must submit a detailed research proposal that includes:

  • Applications will be screened for completeness and eligibility.
  • Proposals not meeting the guidelines will be disqualified.

Stage 2: Peer Review

  • Eligible proposals will undergo a double-blinded peer review by a panel of experts in implantology and research methodology.

Stage 3: Final Selection

  • Selection will be based on
    • Scientific merit and originality.
    • Feasibility and clarity of methodology.
    • Relevance to implantology and clinical impact.
    • Budget justification and ethical compliance.
